    Healthy Snacks With Brittany and Brianna

    Posted by admin on June 8th, 2010 and filed under eating healthy | 25 Comments »

    Here are Brittany and Brianna from All4tubekids showing us some healthy snacks.

    Eating fruits and vegetable and some tuna are very healthy alternatives to eating candy and chips. Fruits give you energy from the natural sugars.

    Eating these healthy snacks will help you avoid a sugar meltdown or crash. These healthy snacks are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

    Just wanted to say that I have made a a recent decision to put my foot down about healthy eating habits in the home. I made this decision a week before this video was made. I am working on getting my wife to support me with healthy eating so my kids can benefit from this 100 percent. If you have two parents in the home it takes two of them to work together to make eating healthy a consistent good habit for the kids. This really works great when two parents agree!

    Brittany and Brianna have been feeling more energy in the last two weeks since I enforced this in the entire house on April 1, 2008. I was working 3 nights after teaching at school for the last 2 years and decided that those 3 nights I needed to be home to ensure that they are getting the best nutrition that I can offer them. I am the Italian chef of the house according to what my friends and family say!

    Italian food does not always mean PASTA. There are so many healthy Italian foods out there and I make pasta in moderation. We use plenty of chicken and fish in our recipes. Meatballs don’t have to be beef and pork, they can also be made with ground chicken and ground turkey. You should see how many different vegetables are in a good Italian salad, also known as Insalata.

    Healthy Vegan Sesame Ginger Tempeh Salad Recipe Video

    Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under healthy recipe | 6 Comments »

    Recipe: http://www.healthyveganrecipes.net/video/sesame-ginger-tempeh-salad
    Tempeh and other beans are the perfect complement to green vegetables in healthy vegan recipes. The tempeh makes a meal out of a salad, and the greens give the body enzymes and nutrients to help break down the dense nutrients of the bean. Top it with some ginger, which helps stimulate the digestive system, and you have a excellent source of energy without weighing you down.

    Tossed Salad Recipe made with Mixed Veggies
    plus a delicious Low Calorie Salad Dressing Recipe

    * I n g r e d i e n t s *
    For the DRESSING:
    — 3 Tomatoes
    — 1-2 Oranges
    — 1 Avocado
    — 2 cloves of Garlic

    For the SALAD:
    — 1 head of Romaine Lettuce
    — 2 Red Peppers
    — 2-4 Carrots (unpeeled if organic, or peeled if inorganic)
    — 1-2 Cucumbers (unpeeled if organic, or peeled if inorganic)

    * P r e p a r a t i o n *
    — 1) To make the dressing, roughly chop the tomatoes, and toss into your Vita-Mix blender, or other high-powered blender of your choice. http://bit.ly/GZsuq or http://bit.ly/3OTXD9

    — 2) Use a manual citrus juicer or a citrus hand juicer to squeeze the juice of the orange into the Vitamix as well.

    — 3) Roughly chop the avocado and toss into your Vitamix along with the 2 cloves of garlic, and blend until desired consistency is reached.

    — 4) Roughly slice the romaine lettuce leaves into bite-sized pieces and toss into a serving bowl. Or, another method is to tear the leaves by hand into smaller pieces. (OR, you could even serve the leaves whole and intact and serve with the dressing as a dip!)

    — 5) Cut the centers out of the red peppers, then slice the red peppers, carrots & cucumbers all into bite-sized chunks, and add to your salad.

    — 6) Drizzle dressing over salad or offer it on the side…your lunch or dinner is now served; enjoy!

    * I n s p i r a t i o n *
    — I am not anti- superfood or anti- supplement, I just find that I don’t need them that much. I personally prefer the “spacious” foods…fruits and vegetables.

    — I feel good on a low fat raw vegan diet! But I don’t prescribe to any diet with any religious fervor…I still listen to my body. For example, in the winter I find that I need more fat to stay warm…e.g., nuts. When you do eat nuts, try to only buy ones that still have the shells on them, so that you eat them more slowly…and hence don’t overeat. :D

    — If you fill yourself up on a nice healthy, delicious, *simple* and filling salad every day, you can’t really go wrong!

    * I n s p i r a t i o n *
    — I wanted to share with you a REAL raw food meal, meaning one that is more typical for a REALLY quick and simple raw food dinner. This recipe involves no machines! But I do use a knife…

    — The top question type I have been getting has been about LOVE, and mainly in the sense of asking, “How do I get more love?”

    — The 2nd top question type I have been getting has been all things related to CORN, yes corn…go figure! So, to ward off in advance any further “So how do you prepare your corn?” type questions, here is the answer if you haven’t figured it out already: I eat my corn 100% raw and unadulterated…not even slightly steamed! ;)

    — Regarding love, we are all an infinite field and we just come out of that…but with conditionings brought upon by us by our environments. At each of our cores, we really are all innocent. Just because many of us have been programmed with ‘negative’ and/or ‘ignorant’ things, through no faults of our own, this does not make our inner, innocent selves out to be bad…

    — So we REALLY need to love OURSELVES no matter what! Take some time to sit with yourself, be it via meditation, or spending more time alone…and learn to love yourself…just do it! ;-)

    *** Motivation & Inspiration ***

    You can make the raw food diet work for you. Take some time! Be patient with yourself! You CAN do this.

    Fruits & Herbs are the simple foundation of your program…isn’t it amazing how SIMPLE true health is?
    I want *you* to be thin, trim, fit, vibrant and vital!

    Humans are simply NOT true carnivores. So in a healing modality, there is no place for eating meat. If anyone asks you “where do you get your protein?” tell them that not even an elephant needs to eat meat in order to get as big as they do, so neither do you! We do NOT need as much protein as what is commonly believed…

    It isn’t the fruit and herbs that are doing the healing of your body…YOU are…but the fruits and herbs allow you to get out of your body’s own way.

    Tissue regeneration is achieved through the alkalization and detoxification process.

    The medical doctors are looking for some magic bullet outside of the body, but…the infinite consciousness is inside the body already!

    Bean Salad Recipe – A Fresh, Healthy and Spicy Bean recipe

    Posted by admin on April 14th, 2010 and filed under healthy recipe | 25 Comments »

    Bean salad is a great way to get the health benefits from beans. Beans are a good source of protein, they’re full of fiber and are said to “pull” cholesterol out of your body.
    This bean salad recipe has the fresh crisp flavor of summer with fresh peppers and corn. You’ll love the hint of chili and cumin – but don’t worry, you don’t have to make this bean salad recipe too spicy – you can make it to your taste by adjusting the seasoning.

    This salad can be made with any type of bean. In this video, Rita uses Chick Peas, Kidney beans and red beans, but you could use any type. Black beans, white beans or red.

    This simple salad gets some crunch from celery and chopped bell pepper, roasted corn as well as a few green onions. Rita always talks about “Cooking by Color”. A great way to get veggies in to your diet.

    And of course this video is full of kitchen tips to make your trip to the kitchen even easier.

    Lightly seasoned with Cumin and Chili powder, this bean salad has a great southwestern flair. A light vinaigrette finishes off this delicious bean salad.
    Enjoy Rita’s Bean Salad Recipe.
