This is part 2 of 2 of a healthy alternate recipe of the Olive Garden’s Zuppa Toscana soup.

Here’s what you’ll need:
1 lb or more of Italian turkey sausage
1 white onion
5 or 6 cloves of garlic
3 large potatoes
1 bundle of kale
5 cubes of chicken bouillon
Crushed red pepper flakes
Ground black pepper
10 cups of water

Here are the steps to follow:
1. Add some red pepper flakes and some black pepper to the Italian turkey sausage and cook on low heat until brown.
2. Dice the onion and crush the garlic cloves.
3. Remove the cooked turkey and set aside.
4. Sautee the onions and garlic for 10-15 minutes on low heat until soft.
5. Add the water and the chicken bouillon to the mix and bring to a boil.
6. Skin and slice the potatoes, then add them to the boiling soup. Cook for about 10-15 minutes until soft.
7. Shred the Kale into small pieces and then add them to the soup.
8. Return the turkey to the soup.
9. Cook for 10 more minutes to allow the flavors to evenly and thoroughly distribute.
10. The soup is done! Serve it in a bowl, allow it to cool, and then eat it.

Happy Holidays! From now until January 1st you will most likely be eating three times the calories your body burns in just one day. That said, we should probably cut corners where we can — and I’m not talking about cakes!

Good habits to live by during this “season of splurging” is to avoid drinking your calories, cutting back on portions, and not going back for seconds. Notice how I’m not telling you to avoid the sweets? Cutting it out cold turkey — especially during the Holidays — may prompt you to completely lose your mind from sugar-deprivation, steal the entire pumpkin pie, and down it in two minutes while hiding out in the hall closet!

So instead of doing away with the sweet-stuff, watch this week’s podcast and try whipping together this healthy dessert recipe that’s both tasty and satisfying. If you love peanut butter, this one’s for you!

Peanut Butter Protein Balls
Ingredients: 1 cup plain instant oats 1 cup honey 1 cup natural peanut butter (drained) 1 1/4 cup vanilla protein powder

1.) With peanut butter still in the jar, drain the oil off of the top
2.) Mix all of the ingredients in a large bowl with a spatula
3.) Wash your hands and continue mixing the ingredients until there are no dry spots
4.) Roll up balls of the mixture about the size of a half-dollar and place them on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper or parchment paper
5.) Cover with wax paper or parchment paper and refrigerate
Optional: You may also melt down two cups of semi-sweet chocolate morsels and dip one side of each ball in it before refrigerating

Servings: approx. 24 balls
One serving, plain= 103 calories
3.5g fat
11.5g carbs
7.5g protein
6g sugar

One serving w/chocolate= 138 calories
5.5g fat
17g carbs
7.5g protein
10g sugar

Hi i want to know about a healthy recipe is best for small kids. If you know means reply me

Best to start them young is eating veggies and whole grains foods with meat as the side dish. Also, when giving them dairy products, lower in fat is better. Also, no sugar products is best; emphasizing instead on fruits. There are good-for-you-treats made from whole wheat or grain, like fig bars, good source of fiber.

If they don’t take to it so well to that, there is this website I use, it’s http://sneakychef.com/ They have all kinds of good-for-you foods that go into foods kids like.
on Amazon, people reviewed her book.

She does have recipes on her website that are really clever and good.
