I’m doing a PowerPoint for english class in trying to persuade other teens to not buy junk food and eat healthy! And I need to know how eating healthy affects your future health!
Eating poorly does a lot of things – any of these are bad – feel free to expand on the fact that if you get them when you’re young, the longer your body will be living with these symptoms, the worse your health can be:
Risk of premature death
High blood pressure
Increased adipose (fat) tissue
Therefore, Higher resting heart rate.
– (Someone who is healthy will have a heart rate that needs to beat about 25,000 – 40,000 times LESS per DAY than someone who isn’t. – That’s saving your heart 6 – 9 hours per day of beating time)
Increased bad Cholesterol (LDL) and decreased good cholesterol (HDL)
Increased risk of diabetes
Makes day to day activities more difficult.
– BODY image!! (<— you want to strike at the heart of a teenager? Tell them they look like shit. Then tell them that a few years of this and they’ll look like even bigger shit.) And that can affect them for life. Use someone in class who looks great as an example. ("Look at sharon.. she looks amazing. Do you think she has a complex?" – check with her first before doing that though.)
– Lower self-esteem
– Increased anxiety
– More susceptible to depression
– Over worked organs trying to regulate high sugar intakes etc.

I am 17 and i would like to gain weight. I am 6′9" and i weigh about 155 pounds. Its has been really hard for me to gain some good healthy weight instead of eating junk foods and gaining weight by eating junk foods. So can someone please tell me how i can some good healthy weight.

Fast food restaurants are everywhere. If you’re low on money and hungry, you have plenty of unhealthy options and you don’t even have to get out of your car. But if you want to eat healthy, it takes much more effort. Does anyone have a good tip about how to make a healthy eating routine easier to accomplish?
The problem with fast food restaurants for the most part is even the "healthier" choices aren’t that good. McDonalds uses Iceberg lettuce, the cheapest and lest beneficial kind.
On the road, try to find a Subway or Mr. Sub. A more economical choice (an healthier) is to keep a stock of healthy foods in your car or purse. Try keeping ready-to-eat cans of tuna, granola bars or even a box of cereal in your car.
For at home, it’s more than just what you eat, it’s how you prepare what you eat. Don’t fry your chicken, grill it. Buy lean cuts of meat, and eat less pork. Avoid bacon, but subsitute for chicken or turkey bacon. A great thing is grapeseed oil. It’s cheaper, healthier and better tasting than your regular olive oil.
The most important thing is to be motivated. Set a goal, write it down, put it on a post-it note on your fridge, and stick to it. Find your incentive and think about it before you eat. Lastly, always eat breakfast even if it’s a small one. It will boost your metabolism, as skipping breakfast for a year can result in more than 10 pounds of weight gain.

I am 15 years old and I am overweigth blah blah blah. I am researching around and looking on how to eat healthy, because frankly, I have been eating hamburgers and chicken nuggets my whole life and I know I need to change. But my parents continue to buy hot dogs and ice cream bars, especially my dad. They are reluctant to change but I want to educate them on how to eat whole grains, vegetables, and friuts instead of all meat.
The problem is that they have to buy the right stuff so that I can eat it, because obviously, I can’t go grocery shopping. My mom is currently on the atkins diets and I’m pretty sure its not working. How can I get her to eat healthy and buy the right stuff.

Start with bringing home some pamphlets about eating healthy, losing weight, controlling diabetes , preventing heart disease … anything to do with living a healthy lifestyle. I threw diabetes in there because most people who are overweight develop diabetes, and getting a handle on your health now will be a huge factor in preventing heart disease and diabetes when you’re an adult.
Start asking your mom to pick up fruits, vegetables, and whole grain bread for you, and make sure you eat those things FIRST, before you eat any of the junk food in the house.
Start making healthy choices for yourself when you go out – even fast food restaurants have healthier choices nowadays, including fruit cups and salads and fruit juices.
Start cooking on weekends or whenever you can. Ask them to pick up specific items, and then cook dinner or lunch or breakfast using those items. Practice with small amounts first, so you get some practice in and can be sure the food you are serving is edible
Someone else mentioned eating healthy yourself and criticizing your folks … that is not the right way to handle things. Nobody likes being criticized. Try encouragement and serious discussions … they are liable to be much more effective in the long run!
Throwing away food they spend their money on is also not likely to be very effective. However, asking Mom to prepare a healthy salad with the chicken nuggets instead of fries is a good compromise. So is eating a sandwich piled high with lettuce, tomatoes, or any other crunchy vegetable (sliced carrots, sliced zucchini, sliced cucumber, alfalfa sprouts, etc etc etc) alongside a handful of chips and dip or a couple of cookies. Making a conscious decision to make better choices while still using up the not-so-healthy foods in the house is a better decision than throwing away things behind your parents’ back.
I’ve eaten unhealthy all my life but now it’s time to turn my life around. How do I go about eating healthy for breakfast , lunch and dinner. How many servings of vegetables and fruits shall I eat. Could I substitiute fruit juice for fruit? What are some healthy alternatives for snacks? Food really isn’t an option I here at college and they have all sorts of food options. Even if the main course is unhealthy there still the salad bar and sandwich bar and fruit. So can ya help?

As of tomorow i want to start eating really healthily and avoid snacking on bad things like crisps and chocolate. Id also like to loose a few pounds.Do you have any tips on eating healthy?
Try calorie shifting, the idea behind the diet is to instead of avoiding food, embrace it and use it to your benefit to improve your metabolism. This way you’ll actually continue to burn fat even once you stop the diet.
The major problem with all diets that limit your calorie intake is that they as a result weaken and lower the effect of your metabolism on the foods you eat and actually make your body much more prone to storing calories as a result. Much like when an animal goes into hibernation, your body will go into scarcity mode and begin holding onto anything it can.
That’s the main reason that people experience rebound effects from diets. Calorie shifting actually does it right because it changes the way your body utilizes food and as a result you lose weight and keep it off when you stop.
I’ll throw in a link to a popular calorie shifting diet program in my source box for you to learn more about it.
I work full time and go to graduate school full time and find myself eating on the go. I don’t have a lot of time to exercise, but I do make time to go for walks to relax and get outside once in a while. As a result, I feel myself not having the same figure I did even a year ago. I’m not overweight, I just don’t always feel so good eating bad things all the time, and I feel my clothes tightening a bit. Any tips on how to eat on the go but still eating healthy? Any tips on how to do simple things to exercise too? Like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, etc.
For breakfast, instead of doughnuts or bread/pastry/danish and coffee, try eating an apple. It is very healthy and works better than coffee in waking you up.
For brunch or lunch, add a banana to your normal diet. Again, it is healthy and easy to carry. It should replenish you as the day goes on.
Try eating dinner early. It is better to eat dinner early than late. Your body will appreciate it.
If you can, try drinking anti-oxidant drinks once in a while. Naked Juice is a good one. This will cleanse your body of the bad stuff that junk food brings.
As for keeping the weight off, Yes, do take the stairs. If you take the stairs regularly, you will burn a lot of calories. As you do it more often, you will learn that you have more energy than before.
Also, keep going on those walks. It’ll help you gather your thoughts and keep you sane throughout the school year.
